3. Do I need to be a member?
A. No. There's no membership card, membership fee, or sign-up required to rent a DVD from the kiosk. Anyone over 18 with a valid credit (or debit) card can use our kiosks as often as they wish.

4. How often do you update the kiosks with new movies?
A. New release DVDs are available every Tuesday at 12:01 AM.

5. Can I reserve movies online for pickup at the kiosk?
A. We are working on having this feature available in a very near future.

6. Can you use cash to rent a DVD?
A. The kiosks only take debit and credit cards - Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover. At certain universities we are integrating the student card technology with the credit card reader, so student cards can be used to rent DVDs.

7. Is my payment information secure?
A. YES! DVD Federation leverages Secure Sockets Layer technology to encrypt your personal and credit card information. Your credit card number is not stored in the kiosk computer system and is encrypted in all transactions going to and from the bank. We also take great measures to prevent fraudulent use of your credit card.

8. How can I receive Coupons for FREE rentals and other offers?
A. Here at DVD Federation there's always a promotion available for FREE and discounted rentals. Fill out our contact form and let us know which kiosk you frequent. We will email you with FREE rental codes. After first day, normal charges apply.

9. When are movies due back?
A. Movies are just $1.49 per night. You have 15 days before our system charges you the $25 purchase price of the DVD, at which point the movie is yours to keep.

10. How many DVDs can I rent/purchase at one time?
A. For your protection, the rental limits are enforced. The maximum number of movies that can be rented/purchased is 3.

11. What do I do if my DVD appears to be defective?
A. There are few simple steps that you can take in order to make sure your movie watching experience is an enjoyable one.

Before you try any of these methods, remember that the disc media is very delicate and you may unintentionally damage the shiny reflective surface if you are not careful:

If dust particles are sticking to the CD surface, use a piece of soft cloth to wipe off the dust. To hold the CD, insert a finger or thumb inside the center hole of the CD or handle it by the edges but never touch the shiny surface.

If the DVD surface feels sticky or greasy, mix some baby shampoo in lukewarm water and use cotton or soft cloth to gently rub the CD surface with this solution. Make sure the CD is completely dry (no water drops) before putting it back in the jewel case.

If there are fingerprint marks on the CD surface, dip a soft cloth in Isopropyl Alcohol/Ethanol/Methanol and gently wipe the surface. Never use a petroleum based solvent like Acetone as that will permanently damage the CD surface.

When none of the above alcohol based products are available in the local market, use a bottle of Mineral water to clean the dirty CD surface. Normal tap water has higher concentration of salts that may leave white marks on the CD surface.

Always wipe the disc surface in a non-radial back-and-forth motion (from the center hole to the outer edge). Don't follow the concentric circles while cleaning.

12. Where are the kiosks located?
A. Our kiosks are located in Supermarkets, Residential Buildings, and Office Buildings and College Campuses. Click here to view some of our public locations or e-mail us if you have a suggestion for new location.

13. Why are your prices so low?
A. DVD Federation can offer everyday value pricing on new release DVD rentals since it fully automates the traditional video store experience. We have lower overhead and so we pass these savings on to you.

14. Who maintains the machine?
A. DVD Federation owns and maintains each kiosk. New DVD releases are ordered each week, and the machine is professionally stocked and maintained.

Our operating model is somewhat different (we think better) then our competitors. Before we deploy our kiosks, we make sure that we can allocate local representatives/operators who will dedicate their full attention to that local area.

For example: Instead of stocking kiosks once a month our local representative will be there 4 times a month with brand new releases. Also, our local support enables us to monitor trends and adjust our inventory based on your renting patterns.
Most recently one of our kiosks had ran out of copies of Transformers. Immediately, our local representative had moved additional copies of the movie to the kiosk that needed it to the delight of the location owner and people waiting in line to rent exactly that movie.

DVD Federation would like to recognize and congratulate Mike for going above and beyond the call of duty. You are  a great example of what DVD Federation stands for and the level of service we strive to provide.

15. What if I don't return my movie right away?
A. Your credit card will be charged the daily rate for each day. Once you have rented the video for a fixed number of days, the video is yours to keep. Check the kiosk at each location for more information.

16. Can I put an advertisement on the kiosk for my business?
A. Yes it is possible to advertise on the side panels of the machine, or on the video screen. Contact us for pricing or visit our Advertising page.

17. Can I read the movie box information before making a final decision about which movie to rent?
A. DVDs are rented in their original boxes with all of the DVD promotional information still intact. Customers can swipe their card to see a DVD and review it for 10 minutes while deciding if they want to rent that particular title. If they choose to replace the DVD within 10 minutes, their card is not charged. This action can be done repeatedly.

18. Can I request a movie or a game?
A. We are happy to accommodate as many requests as possible. Fill out the contact form and be sure to indicate the location of the kiosk.

19. What if someone else forgets to put the DVD back in the box, then returns it - then I try to rent that DVD?
A. Each DVD contains an Radio Frequency ID (RFID) device that the kiosk identifies as belonging to that particular DVD. Therefore, the machine will not accept the return of a DVD box with no DVD inside, nor will it accept a DVD that is not the original that was rented.

20. Can I get a receipt?
A. Yes. Use our kiosk locator and click on your location. Go to "Quick Receipt".

21. How does DVD Federation know if their kiosk is broken?
A. All DVD kiosks are monitored 24/7 via Internet connection. Status reports and health checks are generated on daily bases. If one of our machines is offline, local DVD kiosk operator is immediately notified and dispatched to the location.

22. I check my Debit Card on daily bases. It shows higher charges then expected.
A. If you check your Debit Card on daily basis, you might notice a "charge" of $25.00 for a movie. This is simply a pre-authentication amount and you will NOT be charged this amount unless you keep the movie. Retailers (gas station, car rentals, etc.) do this to protect their assets and make sure in case those same assets are damaged or never returned that the cost can be covered.
